Xbox 360 murdered console gaming this ge ...

The Xbox brand has literally dragged console gaming through the ground. Having a ghetto PC as the leaading console for the first year or two of the race was really bad, because now the main console experiences (now FPS games rather than console genres such as action adventures and the like) are simply watered down PC experiences. Console gaming is seriously having trouble standing out from PC gaming this gen, thanks to Xbox. It's obvious that Microsoft's goal was to bring gimped, watered down and dumbed down PC gaming to the masses. If they wanted to do that, that's their choice, but they have to realize that because their system was leading in developer support, most developers for consoles now make dumbed down PC experiences to fit the Xbox criteria, and that has affected console gaming as a whole.Xbox has ruined console gaming this gen and made it lose its identity. how would the ps3 rectify the situation? it's pretty much the same as the 360 in it's attempts to be like a pc.

Well, I would argue that MS's goal is actually to speed up console releases making it unsustainable for anyone else to keep up, thereby killing the competition. HOwever, that failed when Nintendo launched the Wii and the PS3 was seen as a viable BR player.But I disagree that MS has killed anything. They are doing well this gen, mostly thanks to their cut throat business practices. But they are certainly not murdering gaming. They are barely even managing to ''win'' what little they are ahead at.

Anyway why is the 360 to blame? PS3 isnt exactly doing better. Making solid but nothing special shooters like Resistance.

A rather lacking online service.

Noting special in the games department overall.

Heavenly Sword is a solid action game, but no DMC, NG, or God of War
Uncharted is also solid but short and a rather dumb storyline(kind of an indiana jones knock off, but a bad one)
Warhawk is a blast online, but thats it.

And the wii is all Nintendo

All gameplay but no deep or compelling cinematics or stories.

If anything all 3 consoles have under delivered this gen.
So your saying the ps3 is like a high end pc or something?! The xbox 360 has great console exclusives - halo 3, PGR4, mass effect just to name a few...much more choice than the ps3 offers. The 360 also gives us the awesome games available for the pc but we get them months before hand - gears of war for example. So what if the graphics arnt quite as good as a pc. They still look awesome and the console is a fraction of the price. I don't understand how ps3 gamers can go without playing GEOW, Halo3, Mass Effect, Bioshock - some of the best games in the past year!!

I somewhat agree, but not fully.The 360 ... just offers shooters shooters shooters, even its top RPG is a damn shooter.I bought a PC for that, because the controls and online warrant it better, I bought consoles for an alternative experiance.The Wii is filling i nthe console side of things.And quite frankly the qaulity of JRPG's on the 360 isnt that good either, compared to the PS2.As a gamer, with a PC ... I can honestly say bar a handful of games, the 360 is the worst console gaming I have ever owned.... not to mention the most expensive.

Gears doesnt feel like a dumbed down PC game, neither did Halo, COD4 feels like COD3-2-1, u mind mentioning what games ur talking about?
