not only has ps3 surpassed 11 million units sold it has done it in a much faster rate then the xbox 360. if you can remember back microsoft did not ship 11 million units of 360 until june of last year. now ps3 is only 6 million units behind the 360 and is on track to catch 360 in sales by years end. well microsofts spot at the top was nice while it lasted too bad even its second place title is about to be taken. You know your going to get flamed right? But the thing that really amazes me is that Final Fantasy XIII(2nd biggest PS console seller), Metal Gear Solid 4 and Gran Turismo 5(biggest system seller on any console) isn't even out yet and the PS3 is doing very well. EVen on the official sales charts like the NDP.

First of all, VGChartz FTL. These numbers are estimates and nothing more. The only reliable numbers are from the quarterly reports Sony releases.Secondly, Microsoft had ~18 million consoles sold as of 1/1/2008. Maybe you should read the [url=http://www.gamespot.com/news/6184291.html]front page[/url] more often. They have obviously sold more units in the last 3 months.
I think 360 may be close to 20 million now.

Just to expand a little bit, Sony announced they shipped 10.49 million units as of December 31st. In the last 3 months sony has sold more than .5 million units in NA alone. I think it would be pretty safe to assume that Sony is much closer to 12 million units at this point.
You make it sound like the 360 isn't going to sell at all from now until the end of the year...:?
I thought they had already hit 11 mil. Since this is VGChartz, I'll wait until NPD does an official report.

360 sales are slowing dramatically and the PS3 is only getting MORE popular. Factor in that PS3 sold more in its first 12 months than 360 and its hard to deny how this competition will end.

It seems the race for 2nd place is closer than I thought. I think the 360 will win, even though I like PS3 better.

[/QUOTE] Well vghcarts sold to consumer numbers are pretty spot on the retailer numbers that are released by Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft in that they are always the same number in part if you compare the sales. That is why I used them.
