Sports games are not innovative, racing games are not released annually, sports games are. And sports games from year to year lack innovation. A slight graphic change, a new roster, and a few new useless button combos. Sports games are also under an EA monopoly which is another factor to them not being respected, EA makes money no matter what. Even when a game is done very well and improves from previous years Madden 08 and NHL 08. THere will still be a lack of respect for these games because some of those innovations should have been done allready or aren't completely huge.
With that said racers dont deserve the praise they get to be honest. THey are just as casual as a sports game.
