PSN STORE gets revamped

from Gamespot:Sony Computer Entertainments Europe and America have made official a redesign of the PlayStation Network's PlayStation Store. The new-look site will go live in approximately two weeks. Unfortunately, though work is underway on the new-and-improved store experience, the old one won't be receiving its traditional weekly update. There will be no more weekly content updates before the relaunch of the new store in mid-April (from today in Europe, from April 3 in North America), although games and content that have already been uploaded--including Gran Turismo 5 Prologue in Europe--will continue to be available. Presumably, the new store will be up and running in time for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue's scheduled US release date of April 17. The revamp of the PlayStation Store comes after the results of an SCEE customer survey last year in which users criticised the navigation and interface. Both will be getting an overhaul, along with ''more scope for categorisation,'' and a new design. Once the store reopens for business proper, gamers will be prompted to download a new firmware update to their PlayStation 3 systems that will enable them to access the new PlayStation Store. PSN STORE gets revamped
The screenshots for it look really cool, they have them posted over on the ps3 forums,
I'm glad that if nothing else, sony continues to listen to their customers *this* gen,
I mean, they are providing a free game (The Agency), a new store interface, rumble, etc,
and they ditched that horrible boomerang controller, all by popular demand.

I think they used the same design asthe singstore?like using tabs at the right hand side or something so i hope its like that because theold store was like web 0.1 in design.

i think weve all seen it but this is good. the current layout is really bland and unappealing. and its proof sony sorta listens

How DMC4 got an 8 here and an 8.4 averag ...

DMC has a big fanbase. Some of those fans review games. How DMC4 got an 8 here and an 8.4 averag ...
It might have the same gameplay, but people still like it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
the cutscenes/dialogue is always like that in every DMC. But i'll admit, i didnt enjoy DMC4 as much as i thought i would.
I completely agree, A would seem a more reasonable score.
Slamdunk! :P
I largely agree. The game was fine, it wasnt bad or anything, but combat can still be resolved simply button mashing, and the last half of the game was just the first half backwards. The boss battles were GORGOUS though (the fire demon was amazing to look at).
Sorry to hear you didn't like it but I personally would be disappointed if the took out the cheesy dialog and over the top cutscenes, or tried to mess with the combat too much. but I can see where your coming from.
The cheesiness is part of the appeal. It wouldn't be a DMC game without it.

It's not as challenging as Devil May Cry 3. I think it deserved a 7.5. 6.0 is a bit harsh. The backtracking was huge letdown, but the combat was violent and fun as usual.

It felt like I was playing a PS1 game with upgraded graphics and sound. Everything about the gameplay just felt tired and rehashed. What is it with Capcom and these castles that seem to always have super elaborate traps that can only be overcome by a particular weapon that only the hero can use, which seem to always be in a place where he can find them so that he can conveniently use it?

DMC4 is my first step into the series and i love it. I've clocked up over 120 hours on it, attempting to beat the bloody palace now without super characters, managed to reach Dante twice and both times died. The story is amusing, it's not very good but the diolog i thought was good, witty/cheesey/funny/lame/ it was well done and most importantly it was delibrate. The backtrakcing is lame and i would hope it's not something seen in all the series but all of that can be forgotten because the combat is what makes the game. I can't explain it to well it's just..the ability to go trickster, teleport across a room, appear above them, do a flying kick into them and then pull out my sword, flip them in the air and keep them floating with my guns that i find incredibly awesome and i just love playing about with the combat, trying new things, pulling off some cool stuff that's what keeps me coming back.

Online Multiplayer Misconceptions

I have regularly visited and read the forums, and would like to raise a few points that I do not see ever represented.Xbox Live Fee- I own a 360 and have been paying for live for 2 or 3 years and I agree that Peer 2 Peer on-line is not the most optimal nor should it be considered as viable as it is forever. However the advantages it brings to console gaming cannot be dismissed either. You will always be able to connect an xbox live p2p enabled game even 10 years later provided you have someone to play against.:) This is a huge advantage over PSN where a game's on-line portion can be discontinued at any time.PC and PSN games are free- Yes to you, the end user it may appear that everything about these forms of on-line play are free, however you must take into consideration the enormous costs associated with running a dedicated server. At the very least provided you already have the server hardware, the bandwidth required to run an open server to the public is expensive. This is why PSN games are discontinued. PC gamers are very lucky as there are many enthusiasts that have the means to offer free servers to the public, and for this we should all be very thank-full.Online Multiplayer Misconceptions
theres only 3 games on ps3 that actually have dedicated servers...btw i dont think it will be bad to have both dedicated servers and p2p

genre on the downslope.

what do you think is a gametype that is failing to impress this gen? i think racing games are on the decline. burnout paradise is probably the best but i honestly think its more of an action game. games like formula one and forza are great but hardcore sim racers seem like a niche game now. rally games have always been that way. its a love hate thing. if i had to pick the best strait up racer? i couldnt tell you. maybe carbon? dont know. what do you all think? how about wipeout HD or mario kart?genre on the downslope.
well... you really cant improve the racing genre beyong a certain point, the same goes for sport games, i mean they are supposed to mimick real life, we will eventually reach a point where the only diference between games are cars, tracks in racing games and an update in the player roster in sports gamesgenre on the downslope.

The Adventure genre is dying
JRPGS and Adventure titles IMO. You hardly see any new adventures announced any more besides Heavy Rain (PS3) and the DS titles. As for JRPGS they seem to be going downhill with the exception of a few titles like P3, Valkyrie Profile 2, Final Fantasy XII (Yes I said FFXII) and few other titles that don't come to mind at the moment.

Platformers, JRPGs, and Adventure games.

Up until this year the Fighting Genre was nearly extinct. Luckily there's going to be a resurgence of all these genres this year. :)

Gaming in general......

I honestly believe the game of the year ...

There are some very good games coming out this year. Metal Gear Solid 4, Mario Kart wii, even black sheep like Too Human may be surprising.I don't believe any game this year and maybe even no this generation is gonna touch GTA 4. This game just looks amazing.I honestly believe the game of the year ...
If it's GTA4 you're talking about then signs point to yes. But yuo never know. This year will be an AMAZING year for game. Even better than last year.2008 could be almost as good or as impressive as 1998 was IMO. We will see.I honestly believe the game of the year ...
With Spore coming in September and StarCraft II being likely 2008, no, no it won't be.
I can only think of 3 games the challenge GTA4 for GOTY. MGS4, Gears of War 2 (maybe) %26 Killzone 2 (if it ever releases)
Hell yeah, GTA4 GOTY 2008.
I can only think of 3 games the challenge GTA4 for GOTY. MGS4, Gears of War 2 (maybe) %26 Killzone 2 (if it ever releases)
roflawaffles.....anyways yeah i agree it will be GTA
I would put my money on spore. Will Wright is a goty maker.
Releasing a game the same year as Spore is not the way to win Game of the Year.
Spore or Starcraft 2. GTA stands a chance, but its not gonna win.
GTAIV won't be GOTY, it'll be heavily overrated I'm sure, but, you know, such is life.
I dont think it will come close, I mean lets face it what is going to be really different about this GTA compared to the others? Its going to be the same thing over and over again, not saying that I will not purchase it or not have fun. Lets face it how many times can you do the same missions that consist of stealing cars, killing someone throughout the entire game but the only difference is that the people you are killing have different names, and the cars you steal are a tad bit different? I just think the only difference is that it is going to have better graphics.
Alan Wake, Banjo Threeie, Resident Evil 5. If they come out this year of course.
It has a shot, but i'll probably be a long one at best. For me, it probably will be my favorite GOTY. But there are other great games coming out this year as people have mentioned. I am excited for Starcraft 2 as well.
I see the GOTY contenders as being:MGSIV
GTAIV
GeOW2
Spore
Starcraft II
SSBB
LittleBigPlanet
and maybe a couple others.Personally, my money is on Spore or Starcraft II. Will Wright and Blizzard both seem incapable of making a game that is NOT a GOTY contender.
I don't know. This game doesn't appear to be of interest to me. I think that it's due to the fact that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas impetuously became monotonous. However, I could be wrong.
This year's GotY is going to be on the PC. The only other possibility is the Wii. Brawl or some magical Christmas release for that 'secret title'

GTA IV, MGS4, Spore, Starcraft II, Gears 2 (ugh), and Brawl will all be contenders I think.
Yeah probably. I mean there's some big games coming to PS3 this year but GTA is always huge. Probably going to be my Goty anyways.

I don't think they have one and it is kind of funny.
